Using Nokia Sensor

Nokia Sensor is a creative and exciting application for social networking. By using Nokia Sensor you can create your own personal pages - called a folio - on your mobile . You can check out the folios of other Sensor users nearby, exchange messages, and share files using Bluetooth. When other Sensor phones come within a range of 10 metres, your phone can 'sense' them and you can see their folios and send them messages. Because phones running the Sensor connect directly without going through an operator network ,it is free of charge. However, if you send SMS or MMS messages to other Nokia Sensor users, regular operator fees apply. To connect with others using Nokia Sensor, the Bluetooth technology settings (in your phone and in theirs) must be turned ON and set to 'shown to all'. Steps to Using Nokia Sensor Creating a folio to describe yourself to other Sensor users. You must have a Folio to to see and connect with other Sensor users who are within your 10 metes circle. The Folio contains 5 page templates except for image and Sensor name, none of the info is required for using Sensor Ensure your Sensor application is on. Your Sensor name by default is same as name you set for Bluetooth. So overwriting Sensor name will result in a change of name for your Bluetooth. Nokia advise keeping both names the same. Ideas For Using Nokia Sensor Set up a group with other Sensor users to be notified when you're within range: Agree with your group about what code you should use. Enter the code in the Group Code field on the front page of your folio (make sure you all enter the code in exactly the same spelling and format) and then save your folio. Every time you scan and find another Sensor user, your group codes are compared and matches will be indicated in your scan results. Free file sharing, use the media page for sharing images, audio, video, and other media files, using Bluetooth. Use the guest book page for visitors and yourself to read and post entries. This page is always visible Edit the look of the edge of your pages by selecting Change page frame Select Select new to choose an available image from a list, or Import new to import a new image from the Gallery application. Send Sensor messages, guest book entries, Buddy requests, media items, and business cards . Using Nokia Sensor If someone views your folio, the two figures in the main application icon in the top left corner of your Nokia Sensor application "shake hands." The same icon also animates when you scan for others using sensor You have the option to send your folio Via multimedia or Via email. The recipient does not need Sensor to be able to receive it. Standby leaves the application running in the background and keeps your folio available. Exit, on the other hand, shuts down the application, so your folio is unavailable to others. Preferences allow you to personalize your Sensor application. Launch the Sensor application, select Preferences, scroll to any of the following options, and press the scroll key to set preferences. Block users in scan results and in received sensor messages or guest book entries. If you block, you cannot find their folios, they cannot find yours, and you cannot exchange Sensor messages or guest book entries with them. Using Nokia Sensor Scan Scan for other Sensor users whenever the people around you are likely to carry phones with Bluetooth wireless technology. To find Sensor users and other devices with Bluetooth and within range, launch the Sensor application and select Scan. You can Stop scanning at any time and start browsing the folios already found. When another Sensor user is found, his or her folio will be downloaded to your phone and listed in your scan results. After you stop scanning you can open the folios in the list and see who's inside. All about Folios Save the folios you like to My Collection. If you share a group code with another user or if his or her folio has automatically been updated to your collection, icons will appear over the person's picture. Folios may not be visible if the device is already using Bluetooth at the time of your scan. Be patient and try again later. Sensor can find mobile phones and PDAs with Bluetooth that are within range. Try to avoid having physical obstacles between the two phones. If they are not running Sensor they will be listed as 'unknown in the scan results. Select Identify user to fetch their Bluetooth name so you can start communicating with them. Use Check nearby to see if the owner of the selected folio is within range. If the folio owner is nearby, an icon appears over the user photo in the list, if they are not in range browse their stored folio from My Collection. Your Collected folios are updated automatically every time you scan and find a newer version. You can also refresh a folio, which will download the latest version of the folio if its owner is nearby. Get a Buddy If you buddy with another Sensor user, you can use Buddy alert which regularly checks if your buddy is nearby, and if so, notifies you about it. To become buddies, a buddy request must be sent by one party and be accepted. Both parties must be within range to send or accept buddy requests. A buddy is identifiable by a small heart icon on the user photo. What is Public and Private? Your guest book is a page in your folio where visitors can leave and/or read comments or images. Guest book entries are visible to any Sensor users who have access to your folio. You do not need to reveal your phone number to post a guest book entry. Sensor messages are private and free but both must have Sensor running and be within range. You do not need to reveal your number.. Creating and Receiving a Sensor Message Select a Sensor folio or a received message, and select Options > Send > Sensor message or Options > Reply. Add text and/or images to the message. Your Sensor name and user photo are added to the message by default, but you may choose to hide them. You can also send Sensor messages to non-Sensor users who have phones equipped with Bluetooth. When you get a new Sensor message, a Sensor notification tone can be set up in user options. New Sensor messages, Sensor alerts, and other incoming items are signalled by a tone (a short whistle). You cannot change the tone itself, but you can control its volume by adjusting the volume or turn it off. When the Sensor alert is on, there will be periodic scans and you will be notified when new Nokia Sensor users are detected nearby. The scanning interval of approximately 20 minutes is automatically determined by the application. Automatic scanning is performed in the background without reminder, so if you are short of battery power you may want to turn this function off. How Popular are You? Sensor tracks when and how many times other Sensor users scan your folio, called Views. So you keep track of how many users view your folio, even though you can't know who those people are. Every time someone downloads your folio to his or her phone, a yellow dot is added to the timetable in your My Popularity page. You can view the statistics of your popularity appear for the last seven days. One yellow dot indicates one view. If more than ten views occur in an hour, a yellow line replaces the dots. Or view statistics for the last six months, select Options > See months. As more views occur, icons are added for the current month. Lastly you can see total number of views since Sensor installation. This appears on the bottom right of the screen. This number also appears on the first page of your folio. Using Nokia Sensor is simple exciting technology for those who like instant techniques to connect and increase their social circle. .
